Expert talks on codification

In organization of the Direction for standardization, codification and metrology of the defence Technology department at the Material Resources Sector, today, expert talks were held by representatives of the National Codification Bureau of Serbia and the National Codification Bureau of Montenegro, concerning codification and standardization of arms and equipment.

  Main goal of the expert talks is to perceive the achieved level of the implementation of the NATO codification system in the two ministries and mutual exchange of experiences. Guests’ attention was drawn by discussion about testing procedure of the National Codification Bureau of Serbia which was previously conducted by the NATO Support Agency (NSPA) and by the way of codification and metrication of arms and military equipment.


It has been concluded that the Republic of Serbia has achieved significant success by having become one of the 10 countries outside NATO that conduct codification work single-handedly. With this, certain benefits will be achieved, and products of the Serbian Defence Industry will become visible in the entire NATO codification system which today consists of 68 countries across the world.

The standardization function has an important place in defence systems of the two countries and is recognized as the main lever of strengthening interior military organization. It is conducted in the goal of strengthening defence capabilities, optimum use of defence capacities and achieving the necessary level of interoperability with partnership countries.

At the end of the meeting, concrete suggestions have been proposed for future steps in further cooperation in the field of codification and material standardization.
